FAQ

Registration

Yes, the event is free to attend. This is largely due to the generous support from our lead sponsor, the Office of the Vice Dean of Research and Health Science Education, as well as the following departments: Medical Biophysics, Biochemistry, Institute of Medical Sciences, Medical Imaging, Pharmacology & Toxicology, and Family and Community Medicine.

While there is no dress code, we recommend business casual.

We require you to complete both the registration and abstract submission forms by the abstract submission deadline to be considered for a presentation or research panel.

If you can no longer attend or present at the event, please contact us at temerty.research.showcase@mail.utoronto.ca as soon as possible so we can contact waitlisted individuals.

Presentations

You can present the objective and design of your study. We want you to take this as an opportunity to present your research and answer questions about it!

At registration, you may select the option to be considered for a research panel on the abstract registration form should your abstract not be selected for a poster/symposium presentation. Ultimately, you can participate in one session or the other, but not both.

Through our review process, we will select the top 12 abstract submissions and invite those trainees to give symposium presentations.

1,500 characters (including spaces)

Abstracts will be reviewed based on clarity of background information/knowledge gap and study objectives, choice of methodology and study design, clarity of results and their ability to address study objectives, degree of support for the presented conclusions, and whether the study is original and relevant to members of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

Accepted and waitlisted presenters will be notified of their status on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the earliest.

You will have until Tuesday, May 14, 2024 to confirm your presentation slot should you receive acceptance.

Your poster should be designed and printed using the following dimensions: 36” x 48”.

Please view the “Resources” tab on our website for poster printing service recommendations.

Unfortunately, we will not be covering the costs associated with poster printing. We recommend that you speak with your Supervisor to discuss reimbursement of printing costs.

Given that mentorship panels are experience-based and less about the research, you are welcome to participate in both sessions. If you wish to participate in a mentorship panel, please email us at temerty.research.showcase@utoronto.ca. As for the abstract submission, kindly fill the registration AND abstract submission forms by the indicated deadline.

Yes, as long as your supervisor agrees!

Unfortunately and out of fairness to other presenters, only one person can submit the abstract and present the poster or symposium talk. We will review all abstracts and invite this person should their abstract be deemed as acceptable. The other individual can be listed as a co-author or acknowledged on the poster/slides.
